Based on the establishment and development of basic principles and minimum requirements, the ENS provides organizations—whose information systems comply with its provisions and are managed within their scope of competence—with adequate protection for the services provided and the information processed. Its objective is to ensure the access, confidentiality, integrity, traceability, authenticity, availability, and preservation of data, information, and services supported directly or indirectly by electronic means.
Inglés (US) As established in Article 2, the National Security Framework (ENS) applies to public sector entities, private sector entities providing them with jurisdictional services, and, in general, to the supply chain of the latter, as determined by a prior risk analysis. Furthermore, it is important to note that ENS measures also apply to entities determined by Organic Law 3/2018 (Data Protection and Guarantee of Digital Rights) when personal data processing is carried out. Lastly, the ENS also applies to systems handling classified information. It may be necessary to adopt complementary security measures specific to these systems, which are also subject to Law 9/1968 on Official Secrets (LSO), as well as obligations derived from Spain's international commitments or its membership in international organizations and forums.
